It has a groove on the right side of the shell that corresponds to the opening of a simple lung. The cone shaped shell has 35-45 wavy ribs but is often encrusted or overgrown with other species. It is the largest of the pulmonate limpets.
Found in the high to mid intertidal on moderate to exposed southern rocky shores.
Grazer on microalgae.
Forms a home scar to which it returns at low tide. Eggs are laid in a spiral jelly ribbon
