This barnacles has six side shell plates which are rose pink and are not radially ribbed.
It is particulary abundant on the Foveaux Strait oyster beds at depths of about 25 m. They glue onto the rocks on their heads and build a shell around themselves.
They filter seawater for plankton using their hairy "legs".
