Palnts up to 1m high with a smooth, cylindrical unbranched stipe (stalk) which expands into a flattened blade with lateral lobes lying in the plane of the blade. The plant can have serrated edges to the blade of can be fairly smooth. Colour is golden brown and the texture is tough and pliable.
Found on rock at low tide on moderately sheltered or exposed coasts.
Uses the suns energy for photosynthesis.
