This barnacle is stalked and has small spindle-shaped scales. Some of the larger plates may have a felt-like texture.


They live attached to rocks at mid to low tide on exposed shores.


They filter feed by kicking hairy legs out to catch plankton.


Their name comes from the mediaeval belief that they turned into geese!
