It is orange-buff or cherry red colour and cream below. Characterised by two glassy spines under each jaw - totalling 10 spines per animal. The shape of the animal may vary but if these two spines can be found it is easily identified. Outline more or less pentagonal.


Cook Strait to Otago, Deepwater.


It is a scavenger.
