The most obvious feature of this species is the "frilled" folds on the edge of the shell. These can be eroded in older individuals but upon close examination the remains of the frills can be seen,
Found on exposed shores, buried in fine sand at depths of 6-10m. It can occasionally be found at low tide.
A filter feeder.
