This sea hare is almost always a reddish brown to black, however, juveniles can have tiny pale blue spots. Its most distinctive feature is that it "walks" rather like a leach, where the front of the body lifts off the substrate and stretches forward before reattaching and pulling the rest of the body forward as well.
It is found all round the world from low tide to about 3m depth. Found on both soft and rocky shores.
A grazer on seaweeds.
This sea hare does not release ink when disturbed.
