This shrimp has one claw which is larger than the other, however, both claws are covered in small spots and they may have a dark, w-shaped mark on one or both claws. The colour of the rest of the animal is most often pale green, but they can be orange-red or pink. It has three spines on the rostrum of the carapace.

Low tidal on muddy shores, but can be found to 50m depth as well.

Primarily a scavenger of dead animals, but can use the loud snapping noise of it's big claw to stun or kill prey.
