More than 2 m long with "stems" bearing long, alternate, flat lateral branches to 6 cm broad, serrated to almost entire. Conical holdfast with interwoven, branched haptera (root like structures). Elongated floats and has long fingerlike reproductive structures.

Low intertidal to subtidal rocky shore.

Uses suns energy for photosynthesis.
