Flattened crustaceans resemble common garden slaters with whom they are related. Grey to sandy brown. They have 7 pairs of legs.


Lives in and around soft shores, often amongst rotting seaweed etc.


Feeds on organic detritus at the surface of the sediment.


Can be considerable numbers of these. They are important for recycling nutrients back into the food chains.
